Less famous than many of her counterparts with bigger voices, the singer and pianist Blossom Dearie, a regular of the New York nightclub scene from the 1950s till today, has invented a jazz style all her own, swinging in her inimitable voice, part-candid, part-intimate. As a bonus this reissue of her first album, we find some tracks recorded with the Blue Stars, a vocal ensemble she formed in Paris at the beginning of her career.
